Lokman

Lokma is a Turkish fried sweet dough and meaning of the word “lokma” is “bite”. Originally developed in Turkish Sultans’ kitchens, a lokma is a fried bite-sized ball that is bathed in thick syrup or honey and cinnamon. These sweet balls of dough are served on a huge tray at traditional events and holidays. 


Way to make Lokma
Ingredients:
-1 1/3 glasses flour
-4/5 glass water
-1 tablespoon margarine
-30 gr. yeast
-1/2 teaspoon salt 

-1 glass olive oil  
-Syrup

1.Put flour in a bowl, make a well in the center, put the yeast, melted margarine and salt in the well, and stir while gradually adding water, until the flour absorbs the water.

2. Mix together until it becomes dough, put near a warm place and allow resting for the dough to swell and puff up for about an hour. 
3. Heat the olive oil in a deep frying pan 
4. Take pieces the size of a nut with a spoon, and then dip in and out of cold water
5. Put these pieces into the frying pan.
6. As the balls puff up and turn into a golden color, remove from the pan and drain away the oil.
7. Repeat this until all the dough is finished and place the fried balls in syrup. 
8. And served.
